COVID-19 Message

What You Need to Know

While the Mac Rae Family is thrilled to welcome you back to the island and our hotel, please know that our primary concern is for the health and welfare of our highly valued guests and employees. It’s time to roam, relax and enjoy the freedom and peace that Catalina has to offer while protecting each other’s health throughout your visit. Here is what to expect.

Traveling to the Island

The Catalina Express will be following the Los Angeles County Guidelines and will be requiring that everyone wear a face covering or mask that covers you nose and mouth while in the terminal, waiting in line to board and on board their vessels. Their team will also be outfitted with masks, gloves and safety glasses. The Catalina Express currently has a limited boat schedule which will be adjusted as we move forward. You can feel safe entering their vessels as they have an extensive cleaning protocol in place.

Arriving on the Island

You will be asked to keep your face covering or mask in place as you disembark the boat and walk or take a taxi to the hotel. The City of Avalon is asking that our guests wear face coverings while walking on Front Street (Crescent Avenue). The businesses and restaurants will expect you to have face coverings as well.

At the Hotel Mac Rae

Please be sure to wear your face covering or mask when entering the hotel and try to maintain physical distancing as much as possible while in the courtyard of the hotel. Our staff will be wearing masks and their temperature and health will be monitored. We require frequent hand washing for our employees. Any employee with a temperature and or not feeling well will be asked to stay home.

You will see our staff will have increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing of public spaces, with an emphasis on frequently touched surfaces. Floor markings will assist with social distancing while approaching the office to check-in. Hand sanitizer will be available for our guests throughout the hotel.

Housekeeping

All guest rooms will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized using EPA approved products and protocols. All dirty linens will be bagged within the individual rooms and be washed at a high temperature according to CDC guidelines. Guest rooms will also be scanned with a UV light to provide an additional sanitation for your safety.

As recommended by the California Hotel & Lodging Association, housekeepers will not be entering guest rooms during your stay. You will be provided with any linens, towels and toiletries that you may need during your visit.

Continental Breakfast

Instead of offering our self-serve Continental Breakfast, you will be provided with vouchers for coffee, Danish, etc. from local bakery right around the corner.

We at the Hotel Mac Rae are here for you. Welcome back!
